Triangle Area Real Estate: October 2017 Report

The Triangle Area housing market remains aggressive and competitive, even as the holidays are approaching. Here is what you need to know now:

➤ There is a slight slowdown due to the upcoming holiday season…but the market is not actually “slow.

While there are fewer showings happening this time of year, everyone searching for a home right now is a serious and motivated buyer. There are very few “looky-loos” simply “getting a feel for the market” right now. With this serious approach, listings are not staying on the market for very long and competition amongst buyers remains intense.

Inventory is still extremely tight, with more buyers than homes available.

Inventory has not grown much at all, despite the growing demands of the Raleigh and Cary markets. Our area has a booming economy and frankly, people want to live here!

This means that both buyers and sellers who are active in the market right now are serious. Homes that are priced and marketed correctly are selling fairly quickly, generally with multiple offers…especially because there are fewer homes available for sale than there are buyers who are aggressively searching.

This is a actually a very good time to buy and sell.

Although this time of year is often mistakenly considered the “off-season” in real estate, you should absolutely not wait until spring, or until the holidays are over to buy or sell. Right now, you won’t have to deal with tire-kickers or time-wasters, since the only people active in the real estate market are serious enough to take time out of their holiday schedules to get their real estate goals accomplished.
